Overview

Arusha National Park is the closest national park to the city of Arusha in northern Tanzania. It is often missed by many safari visitors, but it is a beautiful park with many different landscapes and animals that can be seen in just a few hours.

Ngurdoto Crater and Wildlife

The park entrance leads through a mountain forest where you can see blue monkeys, colourful birds, and the black-and-white colobus monkey, which is easy to find here. Inside the forest is the impressive Ngurdoto Crater. Its steep walls surround a large wet area where buffaloes and warthogs are often seen.

Momela Lakes

Further north are the beautiful Momela Lakes. Each lake has a different shade of green or blue. Sometimes thousands of flamingos gather there, making the water look pink. Many other water birds also live around the lakes. Waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, and small dik-dik antelopes can often be seen in this area.
